General principal
On one of the side walls of the tunnel, at pavement level, 3 rows of pipelines are installed. Each pipe line has duffusors for distribution of water mist or a combination of water and fresh air.
Pipeline 1 is filled with water with the intention to produce a water mist, directed towards where fire, smoke and fumes occur. The water mist will surpress or extinguish most fires. Pipeline 2 and 3, delivers a mixture of water and air. The mixture is distrubted under pressure along the pavement.
The escape route is created as a ”virtual” corridor along the wall, with a triangular cross section, enabling both evacuation and safe access for rescue teams and firefighters The system is activated through sensors that will promt the system to start immediately after an accident has taken place.
